About
VIDEONICS is an interactive manual of the moving image from Slovakia — a reference for people who shoot, edit, grade, mix and project.
What you will find here
Ten sections in the order in which a picture comes into being: shooting, lighting, movement, framing, editing, colour, sound, delivery, AI and projection. Each section has reference tables, terms, a list of published articles and tools, and an open list of the topics we are working on.
At its heart are the interactive tools — a frame rate explorer, a shutter angle explorer, aspect ratios, an atlas of camera moves and shot sizes, a codec explorer and a storage calculator. They all run in your browser and send nothing anywhere.
Who it is for
Camera operators, editors, content creators, students, agencies, AV technicians and anyone learning to work with video. The texts assume interest, not experience.
What VIDEONICS is not
- It is not a production company or a service — we don’t offer filming or post-production.
- We don’t sell or recommend specific products and we have no affiliate links.
- We don’t show ads and we don’t track visitors.
History of the domain
The videonics.sk domain used to host other projects, including online shops and a discussion forum. That content has nothing to do with the manual; the old addresses return status 410 (permanently removed) and we don’t redirect them to unrelated pages.
How it is made
How we work with sources is described in the editorial policy and on the sources and methodology page.
About this English edition
The manual was first written in Slovak. The English edition covers the same pages with the same facts and sources, written for English-speaking readers rather than translated word for word.
