Editorial policy

We only write what we can back up. Where that isn’t possible, we would rather move the topic to the ‘In preparation’ list.

Sources

We take technical figures and definitions from primary sources: recommendations and standards (ITU-R, ITU-T, EBU, ATSC, SMPTE, ISO/IEC, DCI), official documentation from manufacturers and technology administrators (Apple, Avid, AOMedia, HDMI Licensing Administrator) and official platform specifications (for example YouTube and Netflix). On legal topics — such as the obligations around content created with artificial intelligence — we work from the text of EU legislation.

We don’t cite sources for generally known technical principles (how a shutter works, what an aspect ratio is), but we make sure they are correct. Every article and tool lists the sources it draws on.

Date checked

Every article shows the date it was last checked. It means that on that day we compared the figures and claims with the sources listed. Standards and specifications change; if the date is old, check the current version of the source.

What we don’t do

Who is responsible for the content

The content is prepared by VIDEONICS, which is responsible for it. It is not peer-reviewed by a third party; we rely on primary sources.

Corrections

We correct mistakes and record significant corrections. The procedure is on the Corrections page.

English edition

The English pages carry the same facts and sources as the Slovak originals. Where we use a Slovak term that readers will meet in practice, we give it in brackets.

Disclaimer

The content is for information only. On legal questions (such as codec licensing or labelling AI content) it is not a substitute for legal advice; for delivery to a broadcaster or a platform, their current technical specifications always take precedence.
